This is going to be some journey as I attempt to follow the ‘rules’ and go through each of the forty days’ suggestions. I cannot, however, resist making a few comments. I’ve skimmed through the book — but I’ve intentionally not read through the whole thing… so that I will approach each day with an open mind. I understand why the authors have chosen some of the headings or topics – as they follow 1Corinthians 13 in presenting some of the days challenges or “love dares.” I also want to point out a thought expressed in the introduction: “If you…

I’d like to share another sort of journey with you. Wes bought me The Love Dare book. And so, I thought it would be sort of neat to share observations along the way as I go on the journey through the Love Dare book. I’ve read the preface, introduction and Day 1. Tomorrow I’ll write about “Day 1 – Love is Patient” and I will entitle each blog entry with the day and the heading. I know I won’t be able to communicate all that happens on this journey and will likely not share specifics – but I’d like…

I’m seeking to carry on this birthday celebration for as long as I can. Why, I just might even name this blog: The Birthday Celebration Blog! But I doubt it. I mean, I think after a while, it would be rather boring to read about someone dancing day after day bcz she loves that she turned *50* — an age she never thought she’d be — and lives to write about it — or writes to live about it. Some of the sweet things that Spring brings each year — I know, besides my birthday — are other’s birthdays. And…

There has been quite a variety of experiences or special things in this collection of “30 favourite things” — life changing or life-impacting things during my fiftieth year. When I first began writing these entries, I obviously didn’t have a specific plan or order of importance in the posting of these things. They’ve just sort of unfolded — not necessarily even in order of thought… I’ve just written about what’s come to mind on any given day. To have our boy, Timothy, be called to be a missionary was not a surprise to me. I’ve known all his life…

The Fiftieth Birthday… goes on and on… It was a wonderful day! In the first photo, I was having a cup of coffee at the Useless Bay Coffee company! Yes! Wes took me and his dear mother on the ferry to Langley where we enjoyed a mocha and a ginger-pear scone! It was perfect and that mocha was the *best* I’ve ever had! ;o) Then, the next photo is the first of a few birthday desserts! This is a torte that Kathryn made — with Irish Creme Mousse and Ganache fillings. It was so yummy!! I have been…

Like I’ve been saying, I never thought I’d live this long. I’m so glad I was wrong about that and am so grateful to God that He’s given me the life and family He has. I’m grateful for the opportunity of my life. I so want it to mean something and in the end I want it to have been lived well. So, today’s been a sweet day — I’ll post some details and photos soon — but it’s late now and I’m just spending a bit of time reflecting on all that’s happened. It’s really been a wonderful day……

It’s getting harder to decide which memory or which favourite event to share in this list of “30 Favourite Things of my Fiftieth Year.” I was thinking today that one thing I’m so thankful for in this past year is the realization that time is passing — time has passed. And so, one of my favourite things has been the many times I’ve realized that I might never do this or that thing again and so I’ve made a concerted effort to do things – to live intentionally instead of by default. I remember some years ago that my…

In all my life, my greatest gift has been faith and salvation in Jesus Christ the Lord. And in our marriage, in our family – parenting – life work… we are humbled at the mercy of God… the greatest gift — the greatest joy — is walking with Him and knowing our children walk in Truth. That they, too learn to walk in faith is answer to prayers — many prayers for each of them from birth. Answered prayer, each having received the gift of salvation in the Lord Jesus. The baptisms pictured below are of four of our…

American Tea Party Song – Lloyd Marcus The lyrics, copyright Zephyrus Music, are: Mr President! Your stimulus is sure to bust Its just a socialistic scheme The only thing it will do Is kill the American Dream You wanna take from achievers Somehow you think that’s fair. And redistribute to those folks Who won’t get out of their easy chair. We’re havin’ a tea party across this land If you love this country Come on and join our band We’re standin’ up for freedom and liberty Cause patriots have shown us freedom ain’t free So when they call you a…
