A Titus2 Journey Week 1   Every wise woman buildeth her house: but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands.

The Making of a Titus 2 Woman

The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers,  not given to much wine, teachers of good things;  That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands,  to love their children,  To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands,  that the word of God be not blasphemed.   Titus 2. 3-5

Titus 2 Journey ~ Week One

♥ Action: Read and reread the whole chapter of Titus 2 so that our 2.3-5 passage will be understood in context.  Hereafter, we’ll just read the 3-5 portion each week.  Throughout this study we’ll be looking at different Scriptures to give us deeper insight and understanding for the passage and the discussion topic.  As we begin (and end) each week, may we do so with prayer for understanding and prayer for affirmation & application.

Proverbs14.1
Every wise woman buildeth her house: but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands.

Every  wise woman and every  foolish woman is addressed in this passage… no one’s left out.  I begin with this verse for our Titus-2 study to lay a foundation and to give an admonition that we have, every day, an opportunity to choose whom we’ll serve, whom we’ll obey, whether we will choose wisdom or foolishness, whether our actions/activities will be foolish or wise.  This is as convicting (or should be) as it is powerful.  We do have a choice.  We’ll either be building up or plucking down in every area of our lives.

This week’s verse  Proverbs14.1
“Every wise woman buildeth her house: but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands.”

 What does this verse say/mean?

Compare and contrast a wise woman and a foolish woman.  Seek Scriptural support for you answer.

Based on these comparisons, on a personal level:  What am I doing to “build” my house?

Based on these comparisons, on a personal level:  What am I doing to pluck it down?

Thoughts for discussion:

  • What are you doing for your Spiritual health/your “spiritual house” each day?
  • What are you doing to increase mental health/your “mental house” each day?  Consider the books you’re reading or studying, the people you’re talking with, the recordings you’re listening to.   Are there things you can/should do to add to your mental health?
  • What are you doing to build your body/your “physical house” each day?
  • How about your emotional health?

A little deeper
The next discussion prompts, suggestions or questions are to encourage you to look a little deeper, and to give you a whole lot more food for thought and personal application.   Choose one or all to discuss/mull over.

  • What are some things that you ought to stop doing/begin doing in order to build your “spiritual house” each day?
  • Can you be very honest with yourself about wise choices and foolish choices?  Affirmations or excuses?
  • Many women struggle with the area of personal devotions, or personal Bible study/quiet time.  It’s very discouraging for many women who wish they could get themselves to daily be in the Word.   In love I share that there will never suddenly be a “good time” to have devotions or to read the Word without intentionally planning to do so.  Along with several other necessary activities, it must become a desire in order for it to become a habit.  Pray for wisdom here.
  • How are you spending your time?
  • Consider things you are doing (ways you’re behaving, time you are spending) that instead of  “building your house” you are actually plucking it down?
  • Consider that you may be doing good things, but are they the best things to be doing (each day or at the time, etc.)?  Remember that good things are often the greatest enemy of best things.
  • What are some things you’ve let slip in your personal life, home-making, house “building” that you want to revisit… begin doing again… give attention to?
  • What are some things you’ve been doing that have really benefited your “house” (spiritually, mentally, physically)?

Affirmations, decisions for the week ahead:
